DIFFERENCE BETWEEN BILINGUAL AND BICULTURAL
Bilingual
- To be bilingual is to make regular use of two languages.
- To be bilingual is to use two languages in the same territory.
Bicultural
- To be bicultural is to participate at least in part, in the life of two (majority) cultures in a regular fashion”. In addition, this individual knows how to adapt his/her behaviour and attitudes to a particular cultural environment, and can synthesise cultural characteristics from both cultures.
- To be bicultural is to have the ability to effectively navigate the daily lives of two different social groups.
